Folgore, units and missions

The sections of the site dedicated to the Folgore aim to be a tribute to the rich history of the Brigade, from the legendary battle of El Alamein to the present day, covering engagements in Lebanon, the Vespri Siciliani, Somalia, Afghanistan and all the missions in which the Folgore has participated. This space is dedicated not only to military history enthusiasts but also to those who wish to understand the evolution and strategic importance of the Brigade in the context of international operations. By browsing the site, visitors can explore each unit that makes up the Brigade, discovering the peculiarities, skills, stories, and courage of the paratroopers also through books and texts as well as the music inspired by their heroic deeds.

The special forces

A section is dedicated to the Special Forces, offering an insight into the elite units that operate in the most risky and complex missions, demonstrating Italian excellence in the context of special operations. For 50 years, the Folgore has been involved in special operations on behalf of the Italian Army thanks to the 9th Assault Regiment Col Moschin and the 185th RRAO in recent years. The evolution of the Italian Army allowed these units to transition, in 2014, together with the 4th Alpine Paratroopers Regiment, under a single unit at the Brigade level, the COMFOSE (Army Special Forces Command). It seemed therefore appropriate, also for the context in which they operate, namely as highly strategic units for the interest and defense of the nation, to dedicate a section to them.

"The uniform of others" is the space where curiosity meets admiration for other Italian military specialties. A journey among the units that, although different from us, share the same spirit of sacrifice and dedication to the Homeland. A virtual community that reflects the esprit de corps and belonging that have always characterized the paratroopers of the Folgore.
