The Cadets of the 206th Course “Dignity” of the Military Academy of Modena had the opportunity to directly engage with the operational and training capabilities developed by the Paratroopers Brigade “Folgore”.
The young attendees, engaged at the Pisa Parachuting Training Center for the parachute course, participated in a technical-training demonstration organized by the 187th Paratroopers Regiment “Folgore” at the training complex of Valle Ugione, in the Livorno area.
The activity was dedicated to the evolution of land combat and, in particular, to operations conducted in environments characterized by the presence of trenches, field fortifications, and defensive obstacles.

Land Combat Between Technology and Human Factor
During the demonstration, the Cadets were able to closely observe some of the modern capabilities developed by the paratroopers to operate in contemporary scenarios.
The focus of the activity was the integration of tactical procedures, technological innovation, and personnel preparation. Elements that are now indispensable in a battlefield where traditional combat coexists with drones, sensors, digital systems, and new platforms supporting mobility.
Particular interest was aroused by the use of remotely piloted systems and advanced technologies intended to support land maneuver, improve terrain observation, and increase operational situational awareness.
Some micro-mobility platforms were also illustrated, tools that can facilitate personnel movements, material transport, and rapid intervention in specific operational contexts.
Technology, however, was not presented as a substitute for the combatant. On the contrary, the new systems were integrated into an operational model where the human factor continues to play a central role.
Preparation, decision-making ability, initiative, and leadership remain fundamental qualities, especially for those who will be called to lead men and units in the most complex contexts.

The Training of Tomorrow's Commanders
For the Cadets of the Military Academy, the day represented a concrete opportunity to understand how innovations developed in operational units are integrated into training and procedures used on the ground.
The experience at the 187th Regiment allowed future Officers to directly observe the relationship between theory, technology, and practical application, interacting with personnel who operate daily within a high-readiness large unit like the “Folgore” Brigade.
The evolution of available tools does not reduce the responsibility of commanders. On the contrary, the increase in information, systems, and operational possibilities requires even more comprehensive preparation and a greater ability to make quick and informed decisions.

The “Una Acies 2026” Program
The initiative is part of the “Una Acies 2026” program, aimed at strengthening the connection between training institutes and the Army's operational units.
The project allows Cadets to come into contact with the realities of the Armed Forces in which they will later be called to serve, promoting the sharing of experiences, professional skills, and procedures.
The principle of “Una Acies”, literally “one single line”, expresses the desire to keep the initial training of Officers united with the experience gained by units on the ground.
For the Military Academy, engaged for over two centuries in the preparation of Army and Carabinieri Officers, interaction with units like the “Folgore” Brigade is therefore an essential component of the training path.
The day at Valle Ugione showed how the effectiveness of new technologies still depends on training, professional preparation, and the ability of commanders to use them correctly.
An important lesson for future Officers, destined to operate in scenarios where innovation and advanced tools will continue to support, but cannot replace, the value and preparation of the soldier.
