Paratroopers respond to Littizzetto's words: 'Do we shit? Here's what he doesn't know about us'

Luciana Littizzetto's recent statements during Time That Goes By have unleashed a wave of controversy. The comedian from Turin, speaking about the European defence plan, joked about Italy's military capacity, stating that "we italians are not capable of war. We are shit at it'. A joke that, although in a satirical context, appeared offensive to many, especially to those who have worn and wear the uniform with honour and sacrifice.

Parachutists' response: honour and sacrifice are no laughing matter
Responding firmly was the General Marco Bertolini, former commander of the Folgore Parachute Brigade, who described Littizzetto's exit as 'tasteless and far from spontaneous'. According to Bertolini, it was not an improvised joke, but a conscious choice to get easy applause: "Luciana Littizzetto knows very well that a swear word uttered by a woman always triggers a smug reaction from the public. But this isn't satire: it's the usual anti-Italian rhetoric that paints our soldier as waffling and incompetent. An old and false cliché'.
For the General, this narrative is useful to those who are now pushing for a European army that would reduce national armed forces, branded as "too subservient" to the interests of individual states.
Bertolini's words were joined by Lieutenant Colonel Gianfranco Paglia, Parachutist and Gold Medal for Military Valour. Paglia fought with the legendary 15th Company 'Black Devils of 186th Parachute Regiment Folgore at 1993 Battle of Mogadishuwhere he was hit by three bullets, losing the use of his legs. His response to Littizzetto is direct and full of dignity: "I respect Ms Littizzetto as a woman and as an artist, but there is a limit. In front of men and women who wear the uniform with honour, one should only bow'..
Paglia recalled that the Italian Armed Forces enjoy international respect, thanks to the valour demonstrated in the field by our soldiers, often on difficult and dangerous missions. "You can lose a battle - he added - but our soldiers have always done it with honour, as at El Alamein, where we received the honour of arms from our adversaries'..
According to Paglia, Littizzetto's words did not raise a smile, but only annoyance, because "in those camouflages is our history, made of sacrifice and dedication".. The colonel's invitation is clear: "Not so much for us, who continue to serve the Republic, but out of respect for the fallen, it would be right to apologise"..
Italy: a history of defeats? A partial and wrong narrative
Contrary to Littizzetto's suggestion, Italy does not have a military history only of defeats. The victory at Italo-Turkish War (1912)in the World War I (1918)in the Ethiopian War (1936) e in the Spanish War (1939) are proof of this. Caporetto was a bitter defeat, it is true, but the conflict ended with the Italian victory at Vittorio Veneto. And the numbers quoted by the comedian are also incorrect: the Italian casualties in World War II were approximately 330,000 military personnel and 85,000 civilians, not over 600,000 as claimed.

Italian Constitution: between disinformation and truth
Luciana Littizzetto also inaccurately quoted the Italian Constitution, stating that Italy repudiates war. This is true, but needs to be explained correctly. L'Article 11 of the Constitution states that "Italy repudiates war as an instrument of offence against the freedom of other peoples and as a means of settling international disputes".but allows "on an equal footing with other States, to such limitations of sovereignty as may be necessary for an orderly arrangement to secure peace and justice among Nations".
In other words, Italy does not give up defending its sovereignty or participating, when necessary, in international peacekeeping and security missions.
But above all, it is theArticle 52 of our Charter a reminder that "defence of the homeland is the sacred duty of the citizen".. A principle that binds every Italian to the responsibility of defending their country and to respect those who do so in the front line. Our Army is the People's Army and those who serve it wear a uniform that represents the identity and honour of the nation. Every attack aimed at our military affects not only them, but the entire national community.
Beyond satire: respect for those who serve the country
The Italian Armed Forces are today recognised worldwide for their valour and professionalism. They operate in peace missions, in humanitarian operations, in emergency contexts and in security interventions on national territory. From the Sicilian Vespers to the earthquake in Abruzzo, from the Balkans to Afghanistan, our soldiers have always acted with honour and dedication, earning international respect in the field.
Satire has the right to be irreverent, but it must never turn into disinformation or disrespect those who risk their lives to defend the Republic. To offend the Armed Forces is to strike a fundamental piece of national identity. Perhaps it would be appropriate for Luciana Littizzetto, in addition to seeking easy applause, to better document herself and reflect on the weight of her words. Behind every uniform is a person who has sworn allegiance to the Republic, ready to sacrifice everything for the common good. And this, even before being a subject for satire, should be a reason for respect.

The Legacy of Folgore: Sacrifice Etched in History
Anyone who really wants to understand the valour of Italian soldiers, and in particular the Paratroopers of the Folgore, should read the words carved on the El Alamein memorial, written by Lieutenant Colonel Parachutist Alberto Bechi Luserna, Gold Medal for Military Valourfallen for the fatherland. A testament of courage, dedication and love for Italy that still resonates strongly today:
“Among sands that are no longer deserted, the boys of Folgore, the cream of a people and an army in arms, are here to guard for eternity. Fallen for an idea, without regrets, honored by the memory of the enemy himself. They point out to Italians, in good times and bad, the path to honor and glory. Traveler, stop and pay your respects. God of hosts, welcome the spirits of these boys in that corner of heaven that you reserve for martyrs and heroes.”

I would like to read "if there will be" Litizzetto's apologies.
Thank you
We will inform you if this happens!!
Respect for the Armed Forces thank you very much
Respect for the Armed Forces thanks
Classic Italian exit. Pizza and mandolin! This is the perception that most people who come from "that extraction there" have.
Italiot…sorry!
Let's make sure this "Lady" never crosses the line again!!! Thank you
Perhaps some of the authors should check what she says, and not allow her to disrespect the Italian armed forces. If you have no more arguments, leave it alone.....
I sincerely hope that both Litizzetto and Fazzio will ask from the same stage where these wicked words were uttered… Shame on you
Unfortunately, being an artist or a millionaire is not enough to have a CULTURE, you should have studied and be able to discern truth from stupidity.
Surely as a show woman she believes that in war you can fight with jokes and "potato". If she limited herself to doing desk satire. You lost at least 10 points.
I applaud what Ten Colonel Paglia said. Unfortunately, Litizzetto made a mistake, it can happen to anyone, the important thing is not to correct yourself.
HONOR to the Paratroopers of Folgore and to all the military. Mrs. Luciana Littizzetto is a poor superficial person or at worst a manipulator to discredit
Linziteto can criticize those of her peers. Ignorant, who follow her, she cannot offend the values of the Italian military, my son is a soldier of the army aviation, and every time he gets on the helicopter, he gets on ... If everything goes well. While for two bullshit stories that she tells that make idiots of her peers laugh ... They should remove her from the programs, and close that program. Long live Italy, long live all the military of the army
You have all my respect and gratitude. Do not listen to the words of an ignorant and rude suburbanite hosted by a dull and servile television host. Even if she had some educational qualifications, she remains suburbanite and annoying.
I am passionate about history and I realize the ignorance in this field even at high levels: History teaches.
Litizzetto shows all her stupidity every time she opens her mouth.
I'm surprised that at the television management level there are people of your caliber who allow you to say nonsense.
Thank you for your work
I applaud the statements of Lieutenant Colonel Paglia. Unfortunately, Litizzetto made a mistake, I hope she can make amends and honor those who dedicate their lives to defending the Fatherland.
I am the father and grandfather of soldiers who are serving the Holy Fatherland with pride and dignity (missions in Afghanistan, Lebanon and elsewhere) and hearing a so-called "artist" or "comedian" or "professor" use such vulgar and foul language (always in every TV appearance) makes me feel really pissed off, I don't justify her, even if she is a woman, but ignorance has no sex.
Comrade Littizzetto should be sued for infamy and vilification of the Italian Army
I fully agree with the answers given so far by the Paratroopers and other Armed Forces of our heroic Army.
Littizzetto? She is a person without values who does not even respect herself. An example of mediocrity.
He achieved “celebrity” thanks to the fact that there are still many, too many, individuals who walk the dusty paths of ignorance and emptiness.
She is just clever, one of the many sellers of smoke, vulgarity, garbage thoughts that lead to the degradation of consciousness. A lethal virus for society.
Good morning, I am no longer a young man, but in my time I wore, with honor, the military uniform, I carried out my service as required by our laws. I swore loyalty to the republic, I swore... today it is no longer done. While respecting Mrs. Littizzetto, I would like to tell her to take a tour of our barracks or foreign countries where our soldiers defend the freedom of other peoples. I do not find myself in CAGARISMO...
Nice article contrasting the vulgarity and ignorance of the aforementioned 'lady'. Credit where credit is due. Anti-Italian.... never! Perhaps because I have travelled so much and even lived abroad.
But where is the surprise? Vulgarity and boorishness are characteristic traits of certain and identified individuals. Moreover, at least two generations of young people have been brought up who perceive values such as sacrifice, self-denial, honour, respect, courage, discipline and camaraderie as utopian and negative follies. Whose fault is it? I know very well, but it is pointless to even discuss it, this is the country where the 'single thought' has ruled for 80 years. And jumping from the sacred to the profane, this is the country where junk TV makes record shares and social media goes crazy! Do I have to wonder about the lady (lower case, and that's just to say lady) in question?
Too easy to use the army to make comic jokes because so far no one has moved to respond but enough is enough if you don't like the army however you must not disrespect even the carabinieri you must have respect they are people who have chosen to protect and defend the rights of all therefore also your lady "comedian"
the usual idiotic phrases,
that only make people like you laugh. respect for men and women who every day endure sacrifices with a sense of duty to defend people like Littizzetto. Shame on you and all those who support your way of thinking by denigrating Italy, which despite everything for me is one of the best nations in the world and its armed forces are among the most serious and professional in the world
Always the same old stories........we want more respect, but we live in a system where anyone can say anything they think with impunity.
I recently received a medal for my father who also fought for the cag........issima Littizzetto (she doesn't deserve to be called Madam).I am immensely proud of her and I feel offended by what she said. She only knows how to open her mouth and say vulgarities to make the likes of her laugh.Study a bit of history and learn to respect people, all of them, but especially those who risk their lives to defend even the cialtroni like her....Always long live the police...
One has to think before giving breath to one's mouth there are so many people who have given their lives heroically in that shit that Ms Littizzetto says
Thanks to the military and shame on the Piedmontese comedian who for money debases the valour of our ancestors who died on the Karst
We here can say whatever we want, we remain the 'silent majority' of past memory. The world is of the politically correct, of the turncoats, of the profiteers who earn money without having any art or part, and of those who claim that a child should be able to choose the sex he or she likes. I feel like an alien and have been waiting for decades for a spaceship to take me away. I am sure I could only get better, at least psychologically, which is no small thing! Hearing that those two cocaine-addicted scoundrels who killed a Carabiniere will get away with it is impossible to digest. The Supreme Court has adjourned to a new trial that will surely reduce the sentence, already served under house arrest in the villa! Stuff for a criminal asylum. Of course there is resistance to any attempt to reform the judicial system, otherwise how can justice and common sense be made to make havoc! Someone will say, what's that got to do with Littizzetto? It has everything to do with Littizzetto, it's a whole broth ranging from one antipode to another. Those on the inside are considered 'cool'. those on the outside a loser, amen!
W i para'
Mamma mia, it's a comedian take it for a laugh. A little self-irony, no? But what should the carabinieri say then, who have always been the butt of thousands of jokes?
The General is absolutely right, utmost respect...
I applaud the article that challenges, informing of the truth, the intellectual paucity of the subject.
There can be many reasons for the animosity felt by that political party towards the armed forces and the constituted order in general, from the inability to see the real problems of society to the arrogant arrogance of having understood everything one has read, from feeling superior and untouchable to the envy of cowardice
Respect for those who give up their individual freedom to ensure collective freedom should be due especially by those who are privileged.
In this specific case, always that political party believes that PEACE is a shield to hide behind while it does not understand how instead it is a child to be protected and defended in a world of paedophiles.
Returning to the comedian's discourse, I believe that her animosity (I hypothesise) may be due to her having been born and raised in the Santa Rita district, in the vicinity of several barracks of various arms, and in the years of her youth she did not find, among all those young boys sent alone to the other end of the Italian boot, a rattuso who would give her two good blows.
I feel entitled to refer to boorish humour without culpable excess of self-defence.
Respect and honour to the armed forces and thanks to all the forces of law and order.
Littizzetto and Fazio have the good taste to shut your mouths on certain topics.
You guys have really hit rock bottom.
the unpleasant Ms Littizzetto if she has the courage to persevere with her sordid coherence coterminous with our soldiers' replies or publicly apologise.
The unpleasant Ms Littizzetto with her sordid arrogance and ignorance is right to apologise to our soldiers who are our flag.
But this person is stupid and ignorant! Should she be fired?
I haven't followed this bozo for years. Arrogant and I can tell you I saw him live at the Porta Palazzo market in Turin.
Who shits is this hag. Antipathic, arrogant and anything but likeable. put yourself in front of a mirror and analyse your IQ. as always, your blunders are harbour tavern fetishes.
I find Littizzetto ( I omit Ms because she is not) extremely vulgar and indelicate. I think she is a waffler and deserves to be stoned to death if nothing else, even if she hides as a pseudo-comedy actress. She should be ashamed of herself.
Still watching Littizzetto
Excellent!
good and outstanding.Thank you
Space must be given to satire, even to unsuccessful or wrong jokes. A criticism is needed here: among the undoubted talents of the military, not only Italians, there has never been a sense of humour.
However, I would like to remind her of the front page of the Eco di Livorno of 9/11/1971 "34 BLACK SERVANTS IN LESS" referring to the Ercules that sank in the shallows of the MELORIA, in front of LIVORNO, with my entire Platoon of nineteen-year-old boys who did military service in the Paratroopers for SIXTY thousand Lire a month. In front of this IGNORANT AND FAITHFUL WOMAN my ARMS drop. MISERA, MISERA and again MISERA.
Former NCO of the Guardia di Finanza operations department, I wholeheartedly endorse the words of the paratroopers. HONOURS TO ALL MILITARIANS and I hope that lady (for as much as one can call a person who despises the work of military men first and foremost, but MEN ABOVE ALL) will humbly apologise for those words.
NIHIL DIFFICILE VOLENTI.
Honour to all uniforms...if it wasn't for Fazio she would be bullied in the school where she taught
Bravo Litti.
You do not say your name, perhaps because you are ashamed?
Ugly on the inside.
It's a good thing we no longer pay her with the canon, this stupid anti-Italian leftist who, if you don't agree with her, you don't deserve respect.
Honour to our armed forces always and everywhere
Littizzetto should be ashamed of herself. How can your programme still be watched
The classic example of a mouth not connected to the brain.
Shame on you " comedian " leftist!
