Visit of General C.A. Carmine Masiello to the 185th Parachute Artillery Regiment 'Folgore
In a significant act of continuity with his military past, Paratrooper Corps General Carmine Masiello, current Chief of Staff of the Italian Armytoday returned to the 185th Parachute Artillery Regiment 'Folgore', located in Bracciano. The visit was a moment full of extraordinary memories, as General Masiello paid homage to the unit's War Flag, the same flag under which he began his career as a Lieutenant in 1986 and which he then led as Commander in 2008.
During the flag-raising ceremony, attended by the regiment's "Yellow Devils", the Army Commander relived the beginning of his journey in the armed forces, underlining the profound meaning of loyalty and dedication that characterized his experience within it. His speech focused on the importance of continuity and respect for traditions, recalling the efforts, sacrifices and passion that characterized his service and that of his comrades.
Masiello also underlined the importance of being worthy successors of the brave Paratroopers who preceded the current generations, urging the personnel to remain united in the common duty to serve the Italian Republic with honor, dedication and professionalism. He also recalled the importance of honoring the memory of the fallen and wounded in service, expressing esteem and support for the regiment and emphasizing the value of love for one's specialty and the duty to defend the values, ideals and traditions of the Army.
The 185th Parachute Artillery Regiment “Folgore” represents a crucial component of the Parachute Brigade 'Folgore, with the specific mission of providing indirect fire support during combat phases. The unit, with its rich historical heritage and its identity strongly rooted in the deeds accomplished in the battles of the Second World War such as that of El Alamein, continues to embody the spirit of sacrifice and courage that have been the hallmarks of the “Yellow Devils” and of the entire brigade over the years.
