At the Beraudo barracks in Pralormo, a solemn ceremony was held on Friday 13 September during which the Colonel Roberto Forlani passed the command of the glorious Savoia Cavalry Regiment (3rd) at Colonel Giandomenico Di Spirito. The event was held in conjunction with the celebrations of the historic Battle of Isbuschensky.
The ceremony, presided over by Commander of the Folgore Parachute Brigade, Brigadier General Massimiliano Mongillo, was attended by the Prefect of Grosseto, Paola Berardino.
Colonel Forlani concluded two years of intense command, during which the regiment's personnel were engaged in missions both in Italy and abroad. Forlani greeted the regiment with words of deep affection, recalling the importance of the symbols that unite the men and women of 'Savoia', such as the 'black flames', the 'red tie' and the 'amaranth beret'.
Colonel Di Spirito, the new commander, comes from the Army Logistics Command and has a rich past experience at the Grosseto garrison, where he held staff and command positions, including leading the squadron group during Operation Miasit in Libya. Di Spirito officially assumed the role of 107th commander of the Savoia Cavalry, honouring the regiment's tradition and historical legacy.
We wish Colonel Di Spirito all the best for his prestigious new assignment.
