23 October 2024, date set for Parachute Specialty Day
On 23 October 2024, at the Pisa Parachute Training Centre (CAPAR)celebration of the 82nd anniversary of the Battle of El Alameintogether with the Parachute Specialty Festival.
The event will be an opportunity to commemorate the brave Paratroopers who fought in the historic battle and to celebrate the entire Parachute Specialty of the Italian Army. El Alamein remains a symbol of courage, sacrifice and esprit de corps for Italian Paratroopers and represents, every year, a moment of deep reflection and pride for all those who belong and feel alive to the prestigious Airborne Specialty.
The choice of 23 October, a midweek day, was motivated by institutional commitments that did not allow other dates for the celebration. The Army General Staff is aware of the logistical difficulties that this choice could entail for the participants, but the importance of the event and the desire to pay due tribute to it led them to favour this specific date.
During the day, military authorities, veterans, members of paratroopers' associations, and all those who wish to join in a moment of unity and remembrance of a heroic page of Italian military history will be present at CAPAR. Entry will be permitted from 9.30 a.m.
