Complex and unsolvable situations: the risk of cold involvement

The news and background information that has emerged in these days outline a picture in which Washington is pushing for an acceleration of timelines, closely tied to internal and international political dynamics – such as Benjamin Netanyahu's electoral campaign and the need to show concrete results for the controversial Board of Peace. However, the prudence demonstrated by Palazzo Chigi and the persistent alarms raised by Italian intelligence reports highlight an unambiguous reality: the Gaza Strip remains a profoundly unstable, dangerous and unpredictable context.

Embarking on missions whose legal and operational contours remain vague – from poorly defined chain of command to the total absence of clarity on applicable laws in case of police actions or arrests, passing through regional cross-vetoes (such as the Israeli one on Turkish involvement) – means risking becoming bogged down in situations of impossible solution.
