The Brigadier General Yuri Grossi is the new Commander of the Pinerolo Brigade. The Raiding Officer, former Commander of the 9th Parachute Assault Regiment 'Col Moschin' (2018-2021), he assumed the leadership of the Italian Army's Grand Unit.
At the garrison club in Bari, a solemn ceremony was held to change the command of the 'Pinerolo' Brigade. The Colonel Pietro Guglielmi handed over command to Brigadier General Yuri Grossi, in the presence of the Commander Operational Forces South, Army Corps General Angelo Michele Ristucciaand the main military, civil and religious authorities of Bari and its province.
During his speech, General Ristuccia expressed words of great appreciation for the professionalism and commitment shown by the men and women of the Pinerolo Brigade in every mission, emphasising how it represents a model of excellence in technological development and in the experimentation of new tactics, techniques and procedures shared at Armed Force level.
In fact, the Pinerolo Brigade has also been successfully deployed in various operations across the country, including Operation 'Strade Sicure', which has seen it engaged in ensuring territorial security, fighting organised crime and preventing environmental crimes. Recently, the brigade's contribution has also been decisive during all phases of the G7 held in Apuliawhere the women and men of Pinerolo ensured a high level of security.
The ceremony also highlighted the Pinerolo Brigade's ongoing commitment to the Army's technological modernisation project, called Network Enabled Capability. In this context, the brigade plays a key role in the deployment and evaluation of new materials introduced into service, testing their operational benefits. During the G7 summit, the Imperio' system, which effectively supported the operational functions of Command, Control, Manoeuvre and Intelligence.
The handover of command to the Pinerolo Brigade therefore represents a moment of continuity and renewed commitment to innovation and operational effectiveness.
General Grossi, an Envoy Officer from Special Forces and with a distinguished career in the 9th Col Moschin Regiment, brings with him a wealth of experience and unique skills that will now be made available to the Pinerolo Brigade. His in-depth knowledge of special operations, strategic planning and advanced tactics will further enrich the brigade, complementing conventional capabilities with innovative and highly specialised approaches. This marriage of tradition and innovation promises to further enhance Pinerolo's operational effectiveness, preparing it to meet future challenges with renewed determination and capability.
