TAMPA, Florida — United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) has selected the American company Global Military Products (GMP) under a new multiyear contract for the procurement and distribution of U.S. and foreign weapons, ammunition, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

The agreement, structured as a multiple-award Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract, has an estimated maximum value of $19.5 million and a duration of five years.

Contract Details and GMP's Role

Under the terms of the contract, Global Military Products will compete with other selected suppliers for individual delivery orders issued by the Command in response to emerging operational requirements.

The program covers the supply of:
  • Standard and non-standard weapon systems: including assault rifles, machine guns, anti-tank systems, sniper rifles, and mortars.
  • Ammunition: both NATO-caliber and former Soviet-bloc (non-standard) ammunition.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): protective systems for U.S. special operations personnel and international partners.
Austin Gouveia, Associate Program Manager at Global Military Products, commented:

"Special operations forces require speed, flexibility, and reliable access to equipment."This award reflects GMP’s commitment to providing U.S. and allied forces with secure access to critical defense capabilities, while also confirming our strong performance under the previous IDIQ contract awarded by USSOCOM."

Strategic focus: “Non-Standard” Weapons and the global supply chain

Global Military Products (a subsidiary of Global Ordnance LLC) has built strong expertise over the past decade in the procurement and logistics of so-called non-standard equipment (i.e., equipment not officially listed in the primary inventory of the U.S. Armed Forces).

This type of equipment — including platforms such as AK-series rifles (AKM/AK-74), PKM machine guns, RPG-7 grenade launchers, and 82 mm mortars — is used for three main purposes:
  1. U.S. special forces training: to familiarize troops with adversary or foreign-origin weapons found across various operational theaters.
  2. Equipping partner forces: to supply allied armies and militias that have long used Soviet-derived or non-NATO systems.
  3. Testing and evaluation activities: to conduct technical trials of foreign military materiel.
