Sassari, Chamber commemorative medal awarded to Bersagliere Samuele Fasolo: saved a 15-year-old from harassment by 5 foreigners in Cagliari

Bersagliere Samuele Fasolo, a servicemember with the 3° Reggimento Bersaglieri della Brigata “Sassari”, was presented today in Sassari with a commemorative medal from the Chamber of Deputies for his courageous intervention in Cagliari, where he rescued a 15-year-old girl surrounded and harassed by five assailants.

The award was presented by Hon. Paola Chiesa, member of parliament and Fratelli d’Italia group leader on the Chamber’s Fourth Defense Committee, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Italian Army, Lieutenant General Carmine Masiello.

The intervention in Cagliari

BrigataFolgore.net had already reported on the incident in recent days involving Fasolo.

The young Bersagliere was off duty and in civilian clothes when he noticed a 15-year-old girl in distress near the bus stop in Piazza Matteotti, Cagliari.

According to the account made public by the girl's mother, the teenager had been surrounded and harassed by a group of five young men. Despite being outnumbered, Fasolo intervened without hesitation, managing to drive the assailants away and remove the minor from danger.

The servicemember then remained with the girl, who was still shaken by what had happened, reassuring her and waiting with her for her family to arrive.

The 15-year-old's mother later publicly thanked the Bersagliere for his actions: «I do not know who you are, but honor to you, servicemember. Infinite thanks for saving my daughter».

The award in Sassari

Just days after the incident, the conduct of the servicemember from the 3° Reggimento Bersaglieri also received institutional recognition.

The presentation of the commemorative medal from the Chamber of Deputies, held today in Sassari in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Italian Army Carmine Masiello, marked a public expression of gratitude toward the young Bersagliere.

The presence of the Army's top commander lent particular significance to the ceremony, during which Fasolo displayed the medal he received alongside Hon. Paola Chiesa and General Masiello.

The action taken in Cagliari was, above all, that of a service member who, although off duty, chose to intervene when faced with a young woman in clear distress, demonstrating readiness, courage, and a sense of responsibility.
