The Chief of Staff of the Italian Army, Lieutenant General Carmine Masiello, visited the main sites in Milan manned by troops deployed in Operation “Strade Sicure”.
The visit took place following the reinforcement of the city’s security deployment, which was joined by 500 paratroopers from units of the Brigata “Folgore”.
Accompanied by the commanders of the Raggruppamenti Milano e Lombardia-Trentino Alto Adige, Masiello visited sensitive areas and fixed posts across the metropolitan area.
At these sites, troops operate in coordination with the Forze dell’Ordine, carrying out crime-prevention and area-security activities.
Masiello meets deployed personnel
During the meetings, the Chief of Staff praised the personnel’s professionalism, sense of duty and spirit of service. He also highlighted the operational readiness and employment flexibility required in an urban environment.
«The soldier is our most valuable resource, the tangible face of our commitment to serving the country,» Masiello told the troops.
According to the general, professionalism, discipline, dedication and a sense of duty contribute every day to the security of citizens and institutions. The values demonstrated by personnel, he added, are a source of pride for the Army and the nation.
The Chief of Staff also emphasized the role of continuous training and moral strength, describing them as key elements in operating to protect the public.
The reinforced deployment in Milan
The addition of 500 paratroopers expands the personnel available to guard and patrol Milan’s critical locations as part of Operation “Strade Sicure”.
The reinforcement therefore concerns the Esercito Italiano deployment already stationed in the city and engaged, alongside the Forze dell’Ordine, in area-security operations.
