General Giuseppe Scuderi, former Commander of the 187th Paratrooper Regiment "Folgore", has been promoted to Major General, thus reaching a new prestigious milestone in a career of excellence. Recently appointed Chief of Staff of the "Vittorio Veneto" Division, he officially assumed the role in November 2024, bringing with him a wealth of experience and skills acquired over years of service at the top of paratrooper units.
Born in 1971 in Ischia, he attended the Military School "Nunziatella" in Naples, earning a classical high school diploma, before being admitted to the Military Academy of Modena in 1990. Assigned to the Infantry Corps in 1992, he completed his studies at the School of Application in Turin, graduating in Political Science, and in 1995 he was assigned to the Paratrooper Brigade "Folgore". He held numerous operational roles between 1995 and 2005, including command of the 5th Paratrooper Battalion (2012-2013) and the 187th Paratrooper Regiment (2017-2018).
General Scuderi completed advanced training courses including the Staff College Course (2003-2004), the Hungarian Staff College (2004-2005) and the Advanced Command and Staff Course at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in the United Kingdom (2009-2010). He also obtained a Master's in Strategic Sciences and a Master's in Defence Studies. He also gained extensive staff experience at the Joint Operational Command (2006-2007), the Office of the Chief of Staff of the Army (2008-2009 and 2013-2017) and as Liaison Officer with the 3rd (UK) Division (2011-2012). During his service at NRDC-ITA, he held the roles of ACOS J3 (2020-2021) and DCOS Support (2021-2022).
In September 2022, he assumed command of the Support Brigade of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps in Solbiate Olona.
He participated in numerous international operations and was Chief of Staff of COMKFOR in Kosovo in 2019, under the command of General Lorenzo D'Addario.
With solid operational and command experience, General Scuderi confirms himself as a prominent figure in the Italian Armed Forces and NATO.
