The city of Tolentino celebrates the heirs of the Assault Division 'Nembo' with honorary citizenship

Eighty years after the liberation, the Municipality of Tolentino (MC) conferred honorary citizenship on the 183rd Parachute Regiment 'Nembo' and the 184th Command and Tactical Support Unit 'Nembo', current heirs of the historic Assault Division 'Nembo'. This prestigious award celebrates the decisive contribution made by the division in June 1944, when, framed in the Italian Liberation Corpsactively participated in the liberation of the Adriatic side of Central Italy, restoring freedom to those territories.

The official ceremony took place in the presence of the main political and military authorities of the province of Macerata. The Mayor Mauro Sclavi presented the award to Colonel Francesco Errico, Commander of the 183rd Parachute Regiment 'Nembo', and at the Lieutenant Colonel Mirko Antonio De Mitri, Commander of the 184th RCST Parachutists 'Nembo'.

Present Division General (Res.) Leonardo Prizzi, former Commander of the 183rd Parachute Regiment. Prizzi was one of the main promoters of the initiative and provided the municipal council with the necessary historical elements to understand the strong link between the military units and the Municipality of Tolentino.

To make the day even more special, a series of in-depth historical lectures and exhibition activities, organised by the Parachute Brigade 'Folgore and from the Marche Army Military Centre. The stands set up offered local citizens and schools the opportunity to learn more about the history and legacy of the paratroopers' units, emphasising the importance of historical memory for the community.

With this initiative, the Municipality of Tolentino renews its commitment to preserving and enhancing historical memory, emphasising how the sacrifice and commitment of the soldiers of the 'Nembo' Division contributed to the freedom we enjoy today. Honorary citizenship represents not only a tribute to the past, but also a symbol of union between civil and military institutions, projected towards a future of awareness and gratitude.

A significant gesture that strengthens the bond between Tolentino and the heir units of the Assault Division 'Nembo', guardians of a tradition of heroism and valour in the service of the Nation.
