Over 20 nations gathered in Germany to participate in the large-scale multinational artillery exercise “Dynamic Front 25”, one of the most significant training activities in the NATO context for land artillery. Organized in collaboration with the US 56th Artillery Command and USAREUR-AF (United States Army Europe and Africa), the exercise took place simultaneously in Germany, Finland, Estonia, Poland, and Romania, involving thousands of military personnel.

The primary objective of “Dynamic Front 25” was to test and improve interoperability among the Armed Forces of NATO countries and international partners. In particular, the activity focused on the integration of land artillery communication systems and the joint management of fire missions in both offensive and defensive operations.

The Italian Army deployed an impressive contingent, composed of units belonging to different Brigades:

These units, coordinated by the Artillery Command, formed a multi-system group capable of integrating different assets and technologies. The 185th Paratroopers Artillery Regiment “Folgore”, in particular, took a leading role in tactical activities and live-fire exercises.

The activities of the Italian military began on October 27, with participation in the Command Post Exercise (CPX). During this phase, the planning, coordination, and execution of integrated fire missions were simulated, using the ASCA (Artillery Systems Cooperation Activities) protocol. This system enables interoperability between the artillery fire management software of various nations, allowing seamless joint operations.

In the next phase, the actual live-fire exercise took place, under the leadership of the 185th Paratroopers Artillery Regiment “Folgore”, which operated within multinational command and control structures. The goal was to standardize procedures, improve fire effectiveness, and conduct integrated operations in complex scenarios.

The 185th Paratroopers Artillery Regiment, reconstituted on July 1, 2013 and based in Bracciano, confirms itself as a crucial element for the Paratroopers Brigade “Folgore”. Thanks to its technical and operational capabilities, the regiment ensures the brigade's ability to project highly specialized devices into increasingly complex operational contexts at short notice.

The participation of the Italian Army in “Dynamic Front 25” demonstrates the level of readiness and professionalism of our Armed Forces, which continue to represent a point of reference in the international context, contributing to the security and stability of NATO and its partners.
