In the Novo Selo Training Area in Bulgaria, the command handover of the NATO Forward Land Force Battle Group to the 132nd Armored Regiment of Cordenons took place. The event marks a new phase for the Italian contingent in Bulgaria, currently composed of soldiers from the 6th Bersaglieri Regiment of Trapani.
The handover from the 6th Bersaglieri Regiment to the 132nd Armored Regiment was sealed by the joint custody of the Cordenons regiment's Standard and the War Flag of the 6th Regiment, symbols of courage and dedication to the service of the country. At the end of the formal ceremony, the War Flag of the 6th Regiment will return to Italy, leaving the command of the multinational Battle Group in the hands of Colonel Mariano Rocco Scandurra, commander of the 132nd Armored Regiment.
Decorated with a Gold Medal and a Bronze Medal for Military Valor, the Standard of the 132nd Armored Regiment represents not only a legacy of heroism but also a commitment to the future. This regiment, an integral part of the 132nd Armored Brigade “Ariete”, will assume command of the NATO multinational Forward Land Force Battle Group, led by Italy and stationed in Bulgaria, for the next six months.
The mission of the national contingent under the aegis of NATO underscores Italy's and the Atlantic Alliance's commitment to international defense and stability. It is a defensive measure, proportionate and fully in line with global security objectives, once again demonstrating the crucial role that Italy and its Armed Forces play in the international context.
The change of command highlights the importance of adaptation and international cooperation in contemporary military operations, recognizing the fundamental role of the Italian Armed Forces in the global security context.
