Parachutist Officer Rodolfo Sganga appointed General of the Army Corps

As expected, by virtue of an outstanding career in the service of the nation and the international community, the former Commander of the Folgore Parachute Brigade (2017-2019), Rodolfo Sgangawas appointed Army Corps General.

Military conscription in 1987, subsequently attended the 169° Corso dell’Accademia Militare di Modena. Promoted to second lieutenant in 1989, he was initially assigned to the Lagunari Regiment 'Serenissima in which he served as Scout Platoon Commander.

As Captain he was Company Commander at the Military Academy e Fusiliers Company Commander at the 183rd Parachute Regiment 'Nembo. From Lieutenant Colonel took command of the 2nd Parachute Battalion 'Tarquinia'.for which he was decorated with the Medaglia d’Argento al Valore dell’Esercito in Afghanistan, per i fasti del 25 luglio 2009 a Bala Baluk con la seguente motivazione:

Comandante di battaglione paracadutisti, nel corso di un’operazione volta a verificare la presenza di un deposito di esplosivi, veniva ingaggiato da forze ostili, per oltre cinque ore, con fuoco di armi portatili, mortai e razzi. Dimostrando eccezionale prontezza e coraggio, esponendosi a rischio della propria incolumità, organizzava e guidava personalmente con successo la reazione riuscendo, in tale frangente, a far soccorrere ed evacuare un militare ferito. Esemplare figura di comandante che ha contribuito a dare lustro all’Esercito italiano in un contesto internazionale.

Between 2012 and 2014, the took command of the 187th Parachute Regiment 'Folgore', portando la sua esperienza e la sua visione strategica in uno dei reggimenti più prestigiosi dell’Esercito Italiano.

In addition to the Silver Medal for Valour in the Army, among his many honours, General Sganga also boasts a Silver Cross of Merit of the Army, one Army Bronze Cross of Meritthe title of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and that of Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

His expertise was not limited to operational roles: as a staff officer, he held the position of operations room chief of the Land Operations Forces Command (Comfoter) and the Stato Maggiore dell’Esercito (SME).

His international commitment is evidenced by his participation in no less than five tours of duty in Afghanistan, which further strengthened his experience in complex operational contexts. His academic background includes degrees in Strategic Sciences and Political Science, accompanied by the completion of four master's degrees, testifying to his focused and in-depth studies in strategic sectors.

From 2014 to 2017, il Generale Sganga ha rappresentato l’Italia come addetto militare presso l’ambasciata a Washington D.C.strengthening bilateral relations in a crucial international context. From 2017 to 2019, commanded the Parachute Brigade 'Folgoreconfirming his leadership skills in one of the most significant and challenging roles, that of Aquila 1.

In his last assignment as Director of the 3rd Department of the Secretariat General of Defence / D.N.A.dedicated to Industrial Policy and International Relations, General Sganga applied his vast experience and strategic vision to defence development and cooperation, confirming his commitment to serving the country.
