To participate in the NATO Internship Program, the following requirements must be met at the time of application:

  • Age: at least 21 years old.
  • Nationality: be a citizen of one of the NATO member countries.
  • Educational status: have completed at least two years of university or graduated no more than one year ago.
  • Languages: knowledge of one of NATO's official languages (English or French). Knowledge of the second language is considered an advantage.

Compensation and Benefits

Those selected for the NATO Internship Program will receive the following benefits:

  • Monthly salary: EUR 1,286 (for the year 2025), subject to annual variations based on inflation and NATO salary adjustments.
  • Travel: once the start of the internship is confirmed, a prepaid plane/train ticket will be provided for a maximum amount of EUR 1,200. If traveling by car, costs will be reimbursed.
  • Leave: entitlement to 15 days of paid leave during the internship period.
  • Internal training: interns will participate in an orientation program and monthly briefings to gain an overview of NATO's activities and structure.
