La storia della Fabbrica d’Armi Pietro Beretta viene fatta ufficialmente iniziare il 3 ottobre 1526, quando Mastro Bartolomeo Beretta da Gardone consegnò all’Arsenale della Repubblica di Venezia 185 canne d’archibugio, ricevendo un pagamento di 296 ducati.

Quel documento, conservato presso l’Archivio di Stato di Venezia, rappresenta la più antica testimonianza scritta dell'attività della famiglia. Secondo la stessa azienda, il fatto che Bartolomeo fosse già riconosciuto come “Mastro” e che i suoi prodotti fossero acquistati dalla Serenissima lascia supporre che l’attività della famiglia nella lavorazione delle armi fosse iniziata ancora prima.

Il prossimo 3 ottobre 2026 saranno quindi trascorsi esattamente cinque secoli da quel documento, mentre le celebrazioni per il cinquecentenario accompagnano Beretta durante tutto l’anno.

Cinque secoli di attività ininterrotta fanno oggi di Beretta il più antico produttore di armi da fuoco ancora in attività al mondo, oltre che una delle realtà industriali più longeve esistenti.

Da allora il rapporto tra Beretta e Gardone Val Trompia non si è mai interrotto. Generazione dopo generazione, l’attività familiare si è trasformata da una produzione specializzata di canne per armi da fuoco in una realtà industriale internazionale, mantenendo però nella valle bresciana uno dei propri principali punti di riferimento produttivi e tecnologici.

Le Frecce Tricolori salutano Beretta

Uno dei momenti più suggestivi della giornata è arrivato dal cielo.

La Pattuglia Acrobatica Nazionale dell’Aeronautica Militare ha sorvolato Gardone Val Trompia lasciando dietro di sé le scie verdi, bianche e rosse. Il passaggio delle Frecce Tricolori era stato inserito nel calendario delle iniziative per il cinquecentenario e ha rappresentato un omaggio non soltanto all'azienda, ma anche al territorio nel quale Beretta è nata e continua a operare.

Un'immagine fortemente simbolica: il tricolore sopra una realtà industriale italiana che attraversa cinque secoli di storia, dal Rinascimento alle moderne tecnologie produttive.

Il Presidente del Consiglio Giorgia Meloni alle celebrazioni

Alle celebrazioni ha partecipato anche il Presidente del Consiglio dei Ministri Giorgia Meloni, giunta a Gardone Val Trompia nell’ambito degli appuntamenti dedicati al 500° anniversario della Fabbrica Beretta.

Alla giornata hanno preso parte anche rappresentanti delle istituzioni e del Governo, insieme ai vertici dell’azienda e alle autorità del territorio.

The presence of the President of the Council thus accompanied one of the central appointments of the year in which Beretta celebrates half a millennium of industrial history.

Beretta Innovation Habitat inaugurated

The five-hundredth anniversary was not, however, only an opportunity to look to the past.

One year after the laying of the foundation stone, the new Beretta Innovation Habitat was inaugurated, realized through the recovery and transformation of an existing structure within the Gardone Val Trompia site.

The project covers approximately 2,400 square meters distributed over three floors and includes spaces dedicated to offices, research and development, meetings, collaboration and training, as well as a conference room with 210 seats. The original project also included 76 workstations, 11 offices, four meeting rooms and new spaces dedicated to services and corporate welfare.

The building was designed as a meeting point between research, design and production, with tools also intended for advanced simulations, digital twin, additive manufacturing and 3D printing. An investment through which Beretta intends to further link technological innovation and industrial presence on the territory.

From 1526 to the future

This is probably the main meaning chosen by Beretta for its five-hundredth anniversary: not to consider the 500 years as an arrival point, but as the transition between an industrial tradition unique for its longevity and a new technological phase.

From the 185 arquebuss barrels delivered to the Republic of Venice in 1526 to the current digitalized production systems, five centuries have passed. In between wars, industrial transformations, technological evolutions and profound economic and social changes.

Gardone Val Trompia, however, remained the common thread of this story.

Today's celebrations anticipate by a few weeks the exact anniversary of October 3, 2026, when 500 years will have passed since the document that officially attests the beginning of Beretta's history.

And precisely from Gardone, on the day of the celebrations, the trails of the Frecce Tricolori symbolically marked the passage between those five hundred years of history and the future that Beretta intends to build, confirming the value of a reality that for centuries has carried the name of Italy to the world, its manufacturing capacity and an industrial tradition that has become a symbol of Italian excellence in the world.
