Sebastiano Favero, reconfirmed for a fifth term at the helm of the Associazione Nazionale Alpini (ANA), has no doubts about the need to introduce a mini mandatory draft, revised for today's needs. An engineer from Possagno and a veteran member of the Alpini Monte Grappa section of Bassano, Favero is firmly convinced that a mandatory service, adapted to modern times, could represent a fundamental opportunity for the growth of young generations. "A mandatory draft is essential for today's youth, as it teaches the sense of community and the importance of teamwork," Favero stated. Although it is not the same formula as in the past, the proposal envisions a service with a strong educational and social impact.

Civil Protection as an educational alternative
According to Favero, the mini-draft should not simply be a military experience, but could also have a significant social dimension. "One idea could be to guide young people towards Civil Protection, an intervention structure that deals with emergency situations," he explained. The goal is to train people prepared to face complex contexts, such as natural disasters, a type of experience that would have positive outcomes for young people. The team spirit developed in such contexts could teach values of solidarity and cohesion, promoting the personal growth of young people. This approach reflects the experience that the Alpini have in summer camps, where requests for participation are increasingly numerous and testify to the enthusiasm of young people towards these formative opportunities.

Future projects and the Triveneto gathering
Among Favero's projects, one of the main ones is the Triveneto gathering in Conegliano, scheduled from June 13 to 15 to celebrate the centenary of the local section. Favero has already announced his participation, emphasizing the importance of honoring the milestone reached by the Alpini of Triveneto, which includes the regions of Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige, and Friuli Venezia Giulia. Furthermore, Favero has expressed his desire to bring a national gathering to Bassano, a city historically linked to the Alpini. Although the proposal is still to be evaluated in detail, Favero explained that there are valid reasons to consider the city as the venue for the event, especially due to its strong connection with the history of the Alpini. However, he added that it will be necessary to analyze the logistical and organizational conditions for an event of such magnitude.
