Gandellino (BG) – On Sunday, August 17, the upper Valle Seriana will be adorned with the tricolor for a day dedicated to flying and parachuting. The event, organized by Turismo Gandellino together with the Valle Seriana section of the Associazione Nazionale Paracadutisti d’Italia and under the patronage of the Municipality, promises emotions, memories, and adrenaline.
The program will start at 8:00 AM on via Bondo, in Gromo San Marino (Gandellino locality), with the gathering of participants. At 8:30 AM, families and enthusiasts will take part in a one-kilometer walk in memory of Cristian Fiorina.
From 8:45 AM, it will be possible to register for tourist helicopter flights, which will take off at 9:00 AM, offering unique views of the Val Seriana from above.
At 10:15 AM, after the gathering, there will be a civil moment with the flag-raising and the laying of a laurel wreath at the Monument of the Fallen, followed by the Holy Mass at 11:00 AM in the parish church.

The special guest: Colonel Paolo Filippini
The highlight of the event will be at 12:00 PM, with the spectacular descent of Colonel Paolo Filippini, former paratrooper of the Brigata Folgore and world parachuting champion with over 15,000 jumps. Filippini holds the record for flying a tricolor of 3,300 square meters weighing 130 kg.
For Gandellino, he has prepared a display with a flag of 600 square meters, which will color the sky above the Valley in a unique spectacle, destined to leave the audience gazing upwards.
From 1:30 PM, registrations for tourist helicopter flights will reopen, resuming from 2:00 PM. Also at 2:00 PM, there will be a parachuting demonstration dedicated to the little ones, followed at 4:00 PM by a collective jump by the paratroopers of the Valle Seriana section.

The Valle Seriana section of the ANPd’I
The local section of the Associazione Nazionale Paracadutisti d’Italia, based in the former Convent of Vertova, is named after Giuseppe Guarnieri, who fell on November 9, 1971, in the tragic sinking of the English C130 “GESSO 4” at the Secche della Meloria, the most serious peacetime tragedy in the history of Italian paratroopers.
«We are a very active section – explains the president Alberto Benzoni –. The Gandellino event is a tradition that allows people to get closer to our reality and experience the magic of jumps up close. This year, with Colonel Filippini, we will have a truly extraordinary guest».
The event is also a moment of remembrance for Olivo Dordi, a paratrooper saboteur from the upper Valle Seriana, who fell in 1967 during an exploration operation on the Austrian border in the Strage di Cima Vallona. Dordi was awarded the Silver Medal for Military Valor for his courage.
With a program that combines commemoration, spectacle, and passion for flying, the sixth edition of the Gandellino parachuting day is set to deliver unforgettable emotions.
