MODENA – There is a moment, in the Courtyard of Honor of the Ducal Palace, when a thousand voices become one. It's not just discipline, it's the baptism of the Una Acies: the one, indivisible formation. This morning, the Officer Cadets of the 207th Course “Fermezza” crossed that spiritual threshold, swearing loyalty to the Italian Republic in front of the Minister of Defense, Hon. Guido Crosetto.

We are children of a single formation

The echo of the ceremony did not fade with the "I Swear", but resonated in the words of the anthem that defines the very essence of the Military Academy. Entering the Una Acies means embracing the words that every Cadet carries written in their soul:

“We are children of a single formation,

a formation of a thousand soldiers,

for Italy we offer our lives,

if Italy asks for our lives!

For the Fatherland, the heroes died

who precede us on our path…”

With this spirit, the 207th Course embraced the legacy of those who preceded them, binding themselves indissolubly to the history of the Italian Army and the Carabinieri Corps.

The Authorities and the Value of Sacrifice

In the presence of the Course's Patron, Army Corps General Rosario Aiosa (Gold Medal for Military Valor), and the top Defense officials — including Gen. Luciano Portolano, Gen. C.A. Carmine Masiello, and Gen. C.A. Salvatore Luongo — Minister Crosetto emphasized the nobility of this choice:

"Italy needs great Officers, but even more true Men and Women. I bow before your choice," declared the Minister, adding a profound thought on the loneliness of command: "Those who serve Italy must never feel alone, because they become part of a family that supports them in difficult times."

The Chief of Staff of the Army, Gen. C.A. Carmine Masiello, called the young people to the concreteness of their commitment: "Your 'I swear' is a sacred pact. Discipline will teach you to think clearly and to command wisely. Remember: the behavior of a Commander is worth more than any rank."

For the Cadets destined for the Corps, the General Commander Salvatore Luongo highlighted how the oath is a life choice for the citizen, emphasizing the pride of guarding the honor of a "new home" that welcomes them from today.

The Formation Looking to the Future

The solemn act, sanctioned by the formula pronounced by the Academy Commander, Major General Stefano Messina, now projects the Cadets towards a path of academic excellence. Within the walls of the "old manor" of Modena, established in 1678, the young people of "Fermezza" will study Strategic Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Law, and other disciplines, but always under the aegis of that single ideal.

From today, the 207th Course no longer marches alone. It is part of the Formation!
