Palazzo Arsenale, home to the Army Officer School, hosted the celebration marking 60 years since the officers of the 21st Military Academy Class were commissioned as Second Lieutenants.
The ceremony opened with remarks by the Institute’s commander, Major General Giovanni Brafa Musicoro, and the class leader, Lieutenant General (Ret.) Gianni Botondi.
Participants then attended a briefing on the Institute’s activities. A wreath was laid at the Monument to the Fallen in the Courtyard of Honor.
The bond among the officers
Brafa Musicoro recalled the contribution of the 21st Class to the Italian Army, highlighting its dedication, sacrifice, work, and military values. The general also said that the reunion after so many years was evidence of the enduring bond between the participants and the Institute.
Botondi described the emotion of returning to the School’s corridors, halls, and classrooms. He recalled that, as young Second Lieutenants, the officers began a new stage in their careers there, building on their initial training through studies undertaken at the Institute.
Meeting with young officers
The day also included a meeting with young officers from the 204th class “Volontà” and the 205th class “Fermezza”.
During the discussion, the reunion attendees shared memories and emotions from their own careers. They also offered advice to the young officers as they prepare for their future service to the country.
