I 6 militari intervenuti nel salvataggio

Four officers and two non-commissioned officers of the Army intervened without hesitation, managing to extract the man from the vehicle before the arrival of the rescue services.

A quick and courageous intervention by the personnel of the Military Academy saved the life of a man who ended up in the waters of the Trieste pier along with his car.

The incident occurred around 12:15 PM on Sunday, July 12, while the Cadets of the Academy were in Piazza Unità d'Italia to begin an institutional visit to the city.

Suddenly, a car ended up in the sea with the driver still inside the vehicle. Immediately realizing the seriousness of the situation, four officers and two non-commissioned officers of the Italian Army intervened without hesitation.

Some soldiers dived into the waters of the pier and, operating under particularly delicate conditions, managed to reach the vehicle and free the man, extracting him from the vehicle.

Once brought to the surface and safely conducted, the driver was handed over to the 118 medical personnel, who arrived on the scene to provide first aid and assess his condition.

The timely intervention of the soldiers prevented the situation from having even more serious consequences.

The episode concretely demonstrates the level of preparation, decisiveness, and sense of responsibility that characterize the personnel of the Army and the Military Academy.

Values that are not confined to training, educational, or service activities, but translate into the ability to intervene with clarity and courage even in the face of a sudden emergency, putting their skills at the service of the community and the protection of human life.
