The exercise “Steel Forge 1/2025” concluded at the Carpegna training area, two weeks of activities that involved the Paratroopers of the 183rd Paratroopers Regiment “Nembo” in an intense training cycle with live fire and tactical-operational exercises, from the individual level up to team and platoon.

Objectives and scenario
The exercise aimed to consolidate and enhance the operational capabilities of the units, in line with the principles of readiness and effectiveness inherent to airborne troops. The progression developed techniques and procedures in a war scenario, simulating a complex and dynamic operational context.

Activities carried out
- Live fire exercises with individual and unit weapons, with progressive coordination tests at team/platoon level.
- Military Combat Method (MCM) in wooded environments and under low visibility conditions, to refine situational awareness, movements, engagements, and fire discipline.

Focus on Counter-IED with the 8th Engineers
In synergy with the 8th Paratroopers Engineers Regiment “Folgore”, the soldiers tested and validated counter-IED procedures, with exercises dedicated to identification, recognition, and management of the threat posed by improvised explosive devices.

Results and operational readiness
With “Steel Forge 1/2025”, the 183rd “Nembo” has strengthened the preparation of its paratroopers, confirming itself as a unit ready to respond effectively and decisively to any operational requirement in Italy and abroad. The activity contributed to increasing capabilities in a war scenario, integrating shooting, tactics, MCM, and counter-IED threat in a coherent and realistic training framework.
