The Army Band at the Petruzzelli for Prevention and Research

In an atmosphere of great participation and commitment, the Petruzzelli Theatre in Bari hosted an extraordinary event, the Values in Music' concert, organizzato dall’Esercito Italiano in occasione del 164° anniversario della sua fondazione. L’iniziativa, promossa a sostegno della Umberto Veronesi Foundation ETS, saw an exciting fusion of art and solidarity, combining the beauty of music with the mission of promoting the culture of prevention and fundraising for Pink Ambassadors. The project, set up to support women who have faced cancers such as breast, uterine and ovarian cancer, is a key initiative to raise awareness of the importance of early diagnosis and the adoption of correct lifestyles.

The Army Band and its cultural commitment

La Italian Army Bandthe undisputed star of the evening, gave a performance of the highest level. Founded in 1964, the Army Band is one of Italy's most prestigious musical ensembles. It comprises 102 highly qualified musicians, all of whom graduated from the Conservatory and were selected through a competition.. Its activity extends far beyond national borders, with concerts in the most renowned theatres around the world, including the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, La Scala in Milan and the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, as well as performances in countries such as France, Germany and the United States. The Band's repertoire ranges from opera-symphonic music to original music for bands, with a focus on topical pieces. A significant example of this is its version of the Italian National Anthem, which has become one of the symbols of the Republic, included among the official contents on the Quirinale website.

The Pink Ambassadors and the collaboration with the Veronesi Foundation

At the centre of the evening, however, were the Pink Ambassadors, a group of more than 1,000 women in 22 Italian cities who, having faced cancer, share their journey of life and struggle. Their commitment goes beyond personal testimony: they actively promote the culture of prevention, encouraging women to undergo regular check-ups and take care of their health. The evening was attended by many prestigious guests, such as tenor Gianluca Terranova, cellist Valentina Irlando, and actor Luca Ward, who enriched the event with their artistic performances.

Silvia Veronesi, a member of the Foundation's Board of Directors, emphasised the importance of the collaboration with the Italian Army and expressed her appreciation for the courage of the Pink Ambassadors, who offer a message of hope and strength through their testimony. The great value of initiatives such as this lies precisely in their concrete impact on society, raising public awareness of the need for continued commitment in the fight against cancer.

The evening ended with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Italian Army and the Umberto Veronesi Foundationwith the aim of initiating a more structured collaboration in favour of oncological research and health promotion. This new agreement marks a further step towards a future in which prevention, solidarity and research work together to improve people's lives.

In conclusion, the 'Values in Music' concert was an event that combined music, solidarity and social commitment, joining forces for a common goal: health promotion, cancer prevention and support for those fighting this disease.
