Paratrooper General Pietro Lo Giudice is the new Commander of COMSUPLOG (Army Logistics Support Command)

On Friday, November 19, at the "Giuseppe Rossetti" Barracks in Rome, Brigadier General Roberto Cernuzzi handed over the command of COMSUPLOG (Army Logistics Support Command) to Paratrooper Brigadier General Pietro Lo Giudice, in an event attended by General C.A. Mauro D'Ubaldi, Army Logistics Commander, as well as other high-ranking military and civilian officials.

The ceremony, enriched by the presence of representatives from combatant associations, specialty, category, and religious institutions, was held in front of the War Flag of the 6th General Support Logistics Regiment.

During his farewell speech, General Cernuzzi emphasized the high level of professionalism and dedication demonstrated by his collaborators and subordinate units during his tenure. He also expressed gratitude to the chain of command for the support received, which made it possible to achieve significant milestones in operational logistics.

The Army Logistics Commander, General D'Ubaldi, thanked General Cernuzzi for his excellent service and wished General Lo Giudice to continue with determination the efforts made by his predecessor, in order to further enhance the capabilities of the Logistics Support Command.

The Army Logistics Support Command, history and functions

The Army Logistics Support Command (COMSUPLOG) is a brigade command operating under the direct supervision of the Army Logistics Command and plays a crucial role in supporting the operations of the Armed Forces, both on national territory and in missions abroad.

Originally established in 2014 in Verona under the name “Support Command” for the Land Operational Forces, the Command was transformed and renamed in 2016, relocating to the Cecchignola in Rome. Initially under the dependencies of the Land Operational Support Forces Command, it subsequently came under the control of the Army Logistics Command.

Among its main functions is the provision of support through the Combat Service Support Battalion (CSS-BN) and the National Support Element (NSE) abroad, in addition to managing the transit of personnel, vehicles, and materials for national and international operations. COMSUPLOG also provides essential medical support through dedicated health modules, employed both in foreign operational theaters and in response to national health emergencies. In recognition of the important role played during the Covid emergency, it received the Bronze Medal for Army Valor, awarded by presidential decree no. 349 of December 30, 2020.

COMSUPLOG plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the entire Italian Army, acting as a key element in the organization and logistical support essential for the success of the armed force's operations.

As a Colonel, he also had the honor of being the first Commander of the reconstituted Folgore Paratrooper Logistics Regiment.
