Parachutist General Rodolfo Sganga new Chief of Staff of the NATO JFC Naples - brigatafolgore.net
The Army Parachutist General Rodolfo Sganga, already Commander of the Folgore Parachute Brigade from 2017 to 2019, was officially appointed as the new Chief of Staff of the Allied Joint Force Command NATO Naples (JFC Naples).
JFC Naples, located in Lago Patria, in the metropolitan city of Naples, is one of the two operational strategic commands of NATO's Allied Operations Command, together with JFC Brunssum based in Belgium. This command plays a crucial role in the coordination of NATO operations, with a particular focus on security and stability in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
With his new assignment, General Sganga assumes responsibility for leading and coordinating the staff and operations of JFC Naples, at a crucial time for NATO. His extensive experience in highly-complex operational contexts makes him the ideal figure to address strategic global security challenges and strengthen NATO's role in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
Sganga's appointment represents not only an acknowledgement of his outstanding military record, but also an opportunity to consolidate Italy's presence and influence within the Atlantic Alliance.
General Rodolfo Sganga has an outstanding career in the Italian Army, which began in 1987 and has been consolidated through key roles in prestigious units such as the Lagunari Regiment 'Serenissima and the 183rd Parachute Regiment 'Nembo'. Among his numerous assignments is the command of the 2nd Parachute Battalion 'Tarquinia' in Afghanistan where he was decorated with the Silver Medal for Valour of the Army for the heroic intervention in 2009 in Bala Baluk. He also led the 187th Parachute Regiment 'Folgore' and, between 2017 and 2019, the 'Folgore' Parachute Brigade.
In addition to his operational assignments, he represented Italy as Military Attaché at the Embassy in Washington D.C. and served as Director of the III Department of the General Secretariat of Defence, focusing on industrial policy and international relations.
We wish General Sganga all the best for his extraordinary assignment.
