The “MEDUSA 2024” exercise, organized by the Fires Targeting and Info Operations Center (CFTIO) of the Artillery Command in Bracciano, has recently concluded. This activity involved various units of the Italian Army in simulation exercises, aiming to improve cooperation and interoperability of command and control systems for the Artillery.
Among the participants were the 5th Terrestrial Artillery Regiment (Rocket Launchers) “SUPERGA”, the 3rd Terrestrial Artillery Regiment, the 185th Paratrooper Artillery Regiment “FOLGORE”, a platoon from the Engineer Command, the 11th Transmission Regiment “Leonessa”, some pilots from AVES, personnel from the Army Non-Commissioned Officers School, the Infantry School, as well as personnel from the three Virtual Training Centers: 132nd Tank Regiment “Ariete”, 5th Regiment “Rigel” and 185th Paratrooper Reconnaissance and Target Acquisition Regiment “Folgore”.
The exercise focused on the use of advanced simulation systems to test the interaction capabilities between different units and systems, including the participation of a Battery Command Post from the 19th British Royal Artillery Regiment. The presence of the international component aimed to examine the interoperability of communication systems through the simulation of coordinated artillery actions in procedures and intervention methods.
With the conclusion of the exercise, the continuous effort of the Italian Army to keep its operational capabilities updated and to pursue interoperability with allied countries emerges, contributing to the continuous improvement path of the armed forces, in line with contemporary security needs and the evolving international context.
