Marsala is preparing to experience an extraordinary event, capable of combining history, music, and national spirit. From May 8 to 11, 2025, the city will host the 72nd National Gathering of the Bersaglieri, transforming into a large open-air theater where the notes of the fanfares and the energy of the feathers in the wind will echo. An event full of meaning, celebrating one of Italy's most beloved and recognizable military corps, capable of uniting generations between past and future.

A rich and engaging program
The four days of the gathering will be structured around solemn moments, religious celebrations, sports activities, and musical performances. Thursday, May 8, the Flag Raising at the Monument of the Thousand will mark the official opening of the event, followed by an inclusive walk through the historic center and the inauguration of the Bersagliere Museum at the San Pietro Monumental Complex. The Bersagliere Village, set up in the Archaeological Park, will host stands of crafts, culture, and local products.
Friday, May 9 will be dedicated to dynamic activities, such as the indoor cycling lesson “Those with the Heart of a Bersagliere” and a sea rescue simulation by the Coast Guard. The afternoon will see the arrival of the National Medal Collection at the Municipal Palace, while in the evening the Teatro Impero will host the “Festival of Europe”, with the first major concert of the fanfares.
Saturday will be dedicated to reflection and identity: the Holy Mass at the Mother Church, the commemorative philatelic cancellation, tributes to the Fallen, and a military gymnastic exhibition at the municipal stadium. The squares of Marsala will then come alive with evening concerts, while in Piazza della Repubblica the final concert of the day will take place, sealing the unity of music and memory.

The fanfare of the “Peloritani” and the awaited final parade of the gathering
Among the most evocative events, the program of the fanfare of the “Peloritani” will enliven Monday, March 17 with a series of traveling concerts between Piazza Marconi, Porta Mazara, Piazza Matteotti, and the Mother Church, up to the grand finale in front of the theater. A symbolic preview of the Bersaglieri spirit that will invade Marsala.
The highlight will take place on Sunday, May 11, with the traditional parade of the Bersaglieri along a route that will touch the symbolic places of the center: from Piazza Francesco Pizzo to Via Mazzini, from Piazza del Popolo to Lungomare Boeo, with the final salute at the Tribuna d’Onore in Piazza della Vittoria. To close, the civil and military commemorations will pay tribute to the honorable Benedetto Cottone, the victims of the bombing of May 11, 1943, and Giuseppe Garibaldi, before the flag lowering at the Monument of the Thousand.
The wind of history blows strong
Framing the celebrations, an evocative text that captures the soul of the Bersaglieri spirit: “Maiora Viribus Audere – Dare more, you can. You must.” It is the central verse of the poem composed by Vito Cirinesi, who has managed to convey in words the energy of a people on the run, driven by the wind, the fanfares, and memory. Each feather is a hope, each step a choice: a silent pride, which does not impose itself but offers itself, as the author writes.
Marsala, city of salt, wind, and the Thousand, thus prepares to become the capital of the Bersaglieri spirit, welcoming thousands of visitors in an embrace of brotherhood, identity, and passion.
