The Italian Army at the 89th Levante Fair: vehicles, training and recruitment on display in Bari

From September 19 to 27, the Italian Army took part in the 89th International Levante Trade Fair in Bari with an exhibition area of approximately 2,000 square meters. The area showcased technological developments, training and career prospects in the military sector.

The display, organized by Comando Militare Esercito “Puglia”, offered several hands-on activities. Visitors were able to try the alpine troops’ climbing wall, the Military fitness circuit of Brigata paracadutisti “Folgore”, and a darkened course using night-vision goggles.

Vehicles and specialized capabilities on display

The area featured systems designed to safeguard and defend the public. These included the “Blindo Centauro 2” of Cavalleggeri di Lodi (15°), a reconnaissance robot and a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear laboratory container.

The latter two systems belong to the 7° Reggimento Difesa CBRN “Cremona” and are used to operate in contaminated environments. New additions at this year’s event also included the “Mangusta” helicopter and its Italian Army Aviation flight simulator.

The public also met dog-handler teams from the Centro Militare Veterinario dell’Esercito. During the closing weekend, a platoon of 24 grenadiers performed a “Silent Drill,” a formal military drill display without verbal commands.

The soldiers, wearing historical uniforms, belonged to the honor company of the 1° Reggimento Granatieri di Sardegna.

Health, music and career information

Part of the area was dedicated to health and well-being. Italian Army medical personnel, together with doctors from Università LUM, offered vital-sign checks and first-aid lessons.

The program included sessions on prevention and initiatives dedicated to blood donation. During the event, “Radio Esercito” broadcast live via streaming, alternating music and interviews.

The band of Brigata Meccanizzata “Pinerolo” also took part. At the Info Point, Italian Army personnel explained recruitment opportunities and the activities carried out daily in service to citizens to young people and families.

The area also included spaces run by the Italian Shooting Federation, where the public could take part in rifle and pistol shooting simulations.

The September 21 commemoration

On September 21, for the “Day of Italian internees in German concentration camps during the Second World War,” a commemorative event was organized. The flag-raising ceremony was held in the presence of local authorities and students.
