In recent days, the Italian Army has intensified training activities on multiple fronts, demonstrating a level of operational readiness and interoperability consistent with high-intensity scenarios. Following the “Steel Forge 1/2025” of the 183rd Paratroopers Regiment “Nembo” and the “Pegaso 2/2025” of the “Sassari” Brigade, in the last 24 hours the official Army website reported on new, challenging exercises involving Special Forces, maneuver units, and cooperation with the Carabinieri Corps and the Maltese Armed Forces. The message is clear: training realism, advanced technologies, and integration between assets as effectiveness multipliers.
Special Forces: the “Rangers” showcase capabilities in Verona
At the 85th RAV “Verona”, a Special Operation Task Unit (SOTU) from the “Monte Cervino” Battalion of the 4th Paratrooper Alpini Regiment “Ranger” conducted a high-realism demonstration in the presence of the Army Special Forces Commander, Brig. Gen. Carmine Vizzuso.
The VFI candidates for the Special Forces Branch observed live techniques, tactics, and procedures (TTP) typical of special operations, during the execution of a complex tactical act with state-of-the-art specialist equipment.
Additionally, a static display of vehicles, weapons, and equipment expanded the knowledge framework for volunteers in the first weeks of training.

Capo Teulada: the “Garibaldi” concludes “Capricorno 3/25 and 4/25” and “Minerva”
At the Forces Preparation Center (CPF) in Capo Teulada, the exercises “Capricorno 3/25 and 4/25” concluded, with a multi-weapon Battle Group from the “Garibaldi” Bersaglieri Brigade engaged in consolidating technical-tactical procedures in a high-intensity scenario.
Simultaneously, the Brigade Command conducted the “Minerva” exercise, deploying the Command Post both in structure and on VCC M577 and experimenting with Sat On The Move (SOTM) systems to replicate C2 zone IT services on the move.
The activities were supported by advanced simulation systems, integrated with the C2 “Imperio”, allowing for training realism and an analytical evaluation of the adopted TTPs.
In terms of complex and integrated defense, attention to trenches and shelters, anti-maneuver obstacles to slow down armored vehicles, and buried protection positions for friendly vehicles.

Army–Carabinieri synergy: interoperability on the ground
Also in Capo Teulada, the joint activities between Army infantry units and the 10th Carabinieri Regiment “Campania” concluded.
The “Garibaldi” instructors supported the Carabinieri personnel up to the rifle squad level, transferring technical-tactical procedures and knowledge of the infantry's operational tools.
The goal: to strengthen integration and interoperability between mobile Military Police assets and Army units for future deployments.

Sicily–Malta: exchange of tactics and procedures
At the training base “Aosta” in Piazza Armerina (EN), the 62nd Infantry Regiment “Sicilia” concluded a joint cycle with platoons from the 1st and 3rd Regiments of the Maltese Armed Forces.
Three weeks of theoretical lessons and practical activities on foot and motorized patrolling in urban and wooded environments, CQB/MOUT, Military Combat Method (MCM), IED countermeasures, and convoy escort.
The challenging period culminated in the “Valletta 2025” exercise, which paced the various modules developed over the three weeks. A further step forward in operational integration and mutual professional growth between Italian and Maltese soldiers.

Doctrinal framework: readiness, digitalization, resilience
The common thread of the activities is multi-domain preparation: special forces in capability demonstration, paratroopers in war scenario training, brigades engaged in high-intensity environments with digitalized C2 and SOTM capabilities, cooperation with the Carabinieri Corps for the Military Police function, and international partnership with Malta.
A week that confirms the Army's determination to maintain high operational standards, technological adaptability, and shared competencies between units and with allies.
From the human vector to the technological vector, the line is clear: shorten decision-making times, expand situational awareness, strengthen resilience under stress.
Complex defense returns to the forefront: field works, obstacles, and passive defenses; in parallel, the joint and multinational dimension aligns languages and standards.
