International Best Sniper Team Competition: Gold Medal to 7°Alpini - VIDEO

The Sniper Team of the 7th Alpini Regiment of the “Julia” Brigade won the gold medal at the 5th International Best Sniper Team Competition, held from May 5 to 15 in Eğirdir, Turkey. The Italian team prevailed over the other 36, representing 12 nations, thanks to the overall score collected at the end of twelve tests.

The event, hosted by the Mountain Commando School and Training Center Command in Isparta, featured precision shooting exercises on targets placed between 500 and 1,000 meters, including two night engagements. The competitions included shooting from a helicopter and a rubber boat, precision shooting sessions with rifle and pistol, tests in a mountainous environment, and a 5 km weighted march with 24 kg of equipment. One of the most challenging stages simulated operations in a context contaminated by chemical, biological, and nuclear agents.

Colonel Luca Bianchi, commander of the 7th Alpini Regiment, highlighted “the high technical preparation and group cohesion, key elements in a competition of such a high level.” In Brussels, the Land Operational Forces Command also chose the Belluno unit due to the results achieved in past editions of the European Best Sniper Competition.

In addition to Italy, gold medals were also awarded to the teams of Turkey, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and Uzbekistan. Silver medals went to Bulgaria, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, and Bahrain, while Azerbaijan, Qatar, and Albania finished with bronze. Among the participating countries were also Albania, Bahrain, Georgia, Kosovo, Libya, and Saudi Arabia, with military observers from the United Kingdom, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, and Turkmenistan.

The result of the 7th Alpini Regiment confirms the tradition of Italian excellence in precision shooting and underscores the importance of specific training for missions abroad. The skills demonstrated in Eğirdir represent a significant contribution to strengthening international military cooperation and enhancing the operational capabilities of our Army.
