According to what was published by the newspaper Il Foglio, after the case of *Osama al Najem "Almasri", the Hague tribunal issued 86 arrest warrants against Libyan militia leaders and commanders. The Almasri Case and AISE's Maneuvers in Libya
In this context, the External Intelligence and Security Agency (AISE), is intensifying its operations to ensure national security and protect Italian interests abroad. In fact, the Head himself, Giovanni Caravelli, went to Tripoli on January 28 for a meeting with the Libyan government. AISE's main objective was to avoid new diplomatic incidents like the one related to the arrest and immediate release of Almasri. Caravelli had a long conversation with the Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dabaiba and the chief prosecutor of Tripoli, Al Sidiq al Sour.
The Libyan activist Husam el Gomati revealed on the Piazzapulita program on La7 that, after Almasri's repatriation, a senior Italian intelligence official visited Libya. El Gomati, known for his denunciations, is among those intercepted by the spyware Graphite sold by an Israeli company also to the Italian government.
Finally, the Parliamentary Committee for the Security of the Republic (COPASIR), summoned Caravelli for clarifications on the Paragon case and the management of the Almasri-Libya dossier. The context of these events intertwines with the investigation opened against Giorgia Meloni and ministers Nordio and Piantedosi, announced on January 28, the same day as Caravelli's trip to Tripoli.
