The Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto has stated that he offered the former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov a role as a military advisor in Rome, describing him as a driving force behind battlefield innovations.
Reportedly, Crosetto contacted Fedorov the day after his removal from office, which occurred on July 15, extending him an invitation to collaborate directly in Italy.
## Praise for Innovation on the Battlefield
In an interview with the newspaper *La Repubblica*, Crosetto praised Fedorov's impact on modern warfare, highlighting how he was instrumental in transforming Ukraine's military strategies through cutting-edge technologies.
> "I called him the day after he was dismissed and asked him: 'When would you like to come to Rome to work with me as an advisor?'", Crosetto stated.

The Italian Defense chief described Fedorov as "one of those who completely rewrote the rules of the game on the battlefield," enabling Ukraine to withstand the initial aggression and subsequently regain tactical initiative. Although Fedorov has not made any public statements regarding the offer, an Italian official reported that the former minister was very impressed, seeing the gesture as a significant "sign of respect and friendship."
## Political Context and Rejection of Local Role
The international proposal comes amid significant political changes in Kyiv. Fedorov was removed from his ministerial position in the context of a high-level government restructuring and internal military frictions. Following his departure, widespread protests by the population were reported in several Ukrainian cities.
Although President Volodymyr Zelensky later proposed that Fedorov take on the role of Deputy Prime Minister with a mandate for military innovations, he declined, indicating that he would not accept any government position other than his previous role as Defense Minister.
