Galvion, a global leader in the design and production of advanced head protection systems, energy and data management solutions, and integrated soldier systems, has officially launched the new CORTEX™ line during the 2025 edition of SOF Week. It is a completely new category of smart wearable systems, designed to enhance the operational effectiveness of the modern fighter in a digital and connected scenario.
CORTEX™: Intelligence and integration for the warfare of the future
The CORTEX™ family represents a technological evolution that merges computing power, energy management, and data connectivity within a modular ecosystem, fully adaptable to the mission profile. Designed to enhance real-time decision-making, CORTEX is compatible with currently used tactical equipment, simplifying field integration.
Among the main features of the version showcased at the Galvion booth (#349):
- Integrated processing module with internal battery and dedicated Android operating system;
- Integrated accessory network for unified energy and data management;
- Compatibility with multiple communication protocols (USB, ISW, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi);
- Optional battery module for autonomous and untethered operations;
- Sensor and emitter pods with open-source architecture for third-party integration;
- Auto-detecting VAS connection for HUD and NVG with software-enabled AR functionality;
- 4-button physical controller for quick tactile navigation;
- Proprietary application AlertCentr™, which allows viewing and managing ATAK (Android Tactical Assault Kit) functions directly from the system, reducing the need for interaction with the EUD (End User Device).

Compatibility, modularity, and Tier 1 collaboration
All CORTEX components are one-size-fits-all, with adjustable hardware compatible with the range of Galvion helmet sizes, particularly the Caiman® and Hellbender™ models, but also with other selected non-Galvion systems. The demonstrated system is the result of years of development and co-design with Tier 1 level clients, including special forces and unspecified elite units.
Towards a new paradigm: from passive protection to integrated lethality
Galvion CEO, Todd Stirtzinger, stated:
“We have collaborated with some of the most advanced units in the world to envision the future of integrated wearable systems. The launch of the CORTEX category marks a crucial milestone in our technological evolution.”
“This shift – continues Stirtzinger – from passive protection to intelligent, lethal, and interoperable systems is a paradigm change. For this reason, we have invested millions in our Warfighter Lab, a cutting-edge laboratory to test human-machine interfaces and accelerate the learning curve. SOF Week is the ideal environment to show the world what CORTEX can do.”

Galvion: integrated solutions for tactical superiority
