The Army parachute team has won the Italian title in Indoor Vertical Formation Skydiving (IVFS). The competition was held on October 2 and 3 at the Aero Gravity wind tunnel in Pero, Milan.
The group consisted of four athletes from the Reparto Attività Sportive of Brigata Paracadutisti “Folgore”, based in Pisa. The team finished the national championship with 289 points.
Ten rounds in the wind tunnel
In IVFS, athletes must perform formations and grips in vertical flight inside the tunnel. The competition consists of 10 rounds, each lasting 35 seconds.
The final score is based on the number of formations correctly completed, as assessed by a technical judging panel. The national title marks a step on the road to the next international event.
The team heads to Munich 2027
The lineup includes Warrant Officer Alessandro Binello, Warrant Officer Andrea Cardinali, First Corporal Marco Soro and Corporal Federico Allamprese.
In March 2027, the four athletes will represent Italy at the world championship in Munich.
