Corporal Sara Curtis: The Army Swimmer

Army General Carmine Masiello proudly welcomed the athletes of the Army Sports Group, who distinguished themselves at the recent Italian Absolute Swimming Championships in Riccione. On this occasion, it was VFP4 Lance Corporal Sara Curtis who stole the show, achieving two extraordinary Italian records and earning the respect of everyone in the swimming world.

A Pride and Recognition Meeting

The Generale Masiello ha incontrato oggi, presso la Biblioteca Militare Centrale dello Stato Maggiore dell’Esercito (SME), gli atleti del Gruppo Sportivo dell’Esercito, che hanno fatto brillare l’immagine dell’Esercito e del Paese nelle recenti competizioni. Con ben 36 medaglie conquistate, di cui 22 d’oro, l’Esercito ha dimostrato il suo impegno costante nel promuovere l’eccellenza sportiva. Among the protagonists was VFP4 Corporal Sara Curtis, who recorded incredible results, including a new Italian record in the 100 metres freestyle, surpassing the record held for years by champion Federica Pellegrini.

The Army Sports Groupoperates throughout the country and is organised in several specialised sections: the Summer Sports Section in Rome, the Winter Sports Section in Courmayeur, the Equestrian Sports Section in Montelibretti and the Parachuting Section in Pisa. I risultati conseguiti dagli atleti in tutte le discipline, sia in Italia che all’estero, sono un motivo di grande orgoglio per l’Esercito Italiano, rappresentando anche un importante veicolo di promozione del nostro Paese nel mondo.

Sara Curtis: A Prodigious Swimmer

Sara Curtis, a young talent from Piedmont, attracted a lot of attention during the Italian Absolute Swimming Championships in Riccione. In an event that saw the participation of the best Italian athletes, the 18-year-old demonstrated extraordinary technical skills, setting new Italian records in several disciplines.

Il momento culminante della sua performance è arrivato con la vittoria nei 100 metri stile libero, dove ha fatto registrare un tempo che ha battuto il precedente record detenuto da Federica Pellegrini dal 2016. Questo traguardo è stato il frutto di anni di duro allenamento e sacrifici, come raccontato dalla stessa Curtis, che ha espresso la sua soddisfazione in un’intervista con Rai Sport, dichiarando: “L’acqua è il mio elemento. I record sono frutto di lavoro e sacrifici.”

Non solo nei 100 metri, ma anche nei 50 metri stile libero Sara ha fatto il pieno di successi. Dopo aver conquistato il primato nelle batterie con un tempo di 24″52, ha ulteriormente migliorato il suo record in finale, fermando il cronometro a 24″43, un risultato che le ha permesso di vincere la medaglia d’oro e di consolidare la sua posizione di leader nel panorama nazionale.

The Future of Sara Curtis: Prospects and Ambitions

With her extraordinary talent, Sara Curtis is not only a promise, but an established reality of Italian swimming. In addition to the records already set in the 50 and 100 metre freestyle, the young swimmer also holds the junior world record in the 50 metre backstroke, a distance that will become Olympic in Los Angeles in 2028. Her performances continue to make people talk about her, not only in Italy, but also internationally.

Sara, despite being very young, has shown an uncommon maturity, characterised by a passion and determination that push her to exceed all limits.
