As we head into a new year, it's time to look back with satisfaction at the events of 2024. BrigataFolgore.net has continued to grow and support its mission of telling the history, values, and current events of the Paratroopers of Italy.
2024 was a historic year for our beloved Brigade and for all Paratroopers of every era and generation. On February 15, for the first time since the existence of the Paratrooper specialty in Italy, a Chief of Staff was appointed from the Basco Amaranto: Gen. C.A. Carmine Masiello.
Then, the intense and relentless training that lasted all year led the Brigade, in September, to experience a strategic change of epic proportions: the transition under the direct command of COMFOTER, eliminating intermediate commands and aligning the legendary Paratrooper Brigade with elite units like COMFOSE (Army Special Forces Command) and the Army Aviation Command.
Because, ladies and gentlemen, the Folgore is not a normal infantry unit. Make peace with it.
The change of Brigade Commander, which took place in October 2024 with the handover between General Mongillo and General Bernacca, marks the continuity of excellence at the command of the Brigade.
The new paratroopers, 171 to be exact, who donned the legendary Basco Amaranto a few weeks ago, embody the future.
The Folgore is here. It has always been here and will be here tomorrow, stronger than ever.
