Parma, July 7, 2025 – The community of Parma and the military environment of the Folgore in Tuscany are in mourning for the tragic passing of Filippo Gattola, 23 years old, a soldier of the 187° Reggimento Paracadutisti Folgore, who died in a serious motorcycle accident on the evening of Saturday, July 5.
The tragedy occurred on via Mantova in Parma, while the young man was on leave for the weekend to visit his parents, originally from Puglia, who reside in the Emilian city. According to initial reconstructions, the accident happened when his Aprilia motorcycle, heading towards Sorbolo, violently collided with a car coming from a side street.
Filippo was out with friends at the time of the impact, and it was they who raised the alarm. Despite the prompt intervention of medical personnel, the condition of the 23-year-old immediately appeared very serious and, despite resuscitation attempts, he died shortly after at the scene of the accident. The driver of the involved car was subjected to alcohol and drug tests, both of which were negative. Investigations to reconstruct the exact dynamics are being conducted by the local police of Parma.
The news of Filippo Gattola's death has caused deep sorrow not only in Parma, where he grew up and studied, but also in Puglia, the land of his family's origin, particularly in Manfredonia and Foggia, and in Termoli, where his uncles reside. His untimely passing has also deeply affected the military circles of the 187° Reggimento Paracadutisti Folgore in Pisa and Livorno, where the young man was esteemed and known. Filippo was supposed to return to Pisa on Sunday, at the end of his leave.
