On October 4, 2026, the Centro Polifunzionale “Cap. M.A.V.M. Manuel FIORITO” hosted its first recruitment promotion day for young people from several Verona-based sports clubs.
More than 100 young people between the ages of 15 and 19, from Hellas Verona Calcio, Verona Volley and Scaligera Basket, took part in the event. At the Borgo Roma center, they learned about the Army's training programs through direct interaction with military personnel.
The facility set up for the occasion featured a range of vehicles and systems. The program showcased the technological evolution of the Armed Force, alongside the history, values and traditions that inspire it.
Vehicles and systems on display
The layout, organized by the Comando delle Forze Operative Terrestri (COMFOTER), enabled participants to view vehicles and technologies fielded by Army units.
These included the Light Tactical All Terrain Vehicles (LTATV) of the 4° Reggimento Alpini Paracadutisti “RANGER”. Intended for the Army's Special Forces sector, the off-road vehicle features high mobility over difficult terrain and can carry loads and stretcher casualties.
Also on display were the C-IED, SEARCH and ACRT equipment of the 8° Reggimento Genio Guastatori di Legnago (VR). The 121° reggimento artiglieria contraerei “RAVENNA” di BOLOGNA displayed the STINGER, a very-short-range man-portable surface-to-air missile system, identified as a Man-Portable Air Defence System.
Demonstrations and career information
Instructors in the Military Combat Method (MCM), assigned to the COMFOTER Command Unit, engaged the young participants with a combination of physical exercises and hand-to-hand combat techniques used in defensive and offensive training.
Verona Volley players Anders MOL and Simone ANZANI also took part in the event.
At the information points, Army personnel briefed participants on enlistment opportunities and the career options offered by the Armed Force.
