Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, sent a clear message: Europe must arm itself. The plan ReArm Europe<\/a>presented two days before the extraordinary defence summit, aims to strengthen EU security with a colossal budget of EUR 800 billion<\/strong>. \"European security is threatened, we live in dangerous times,\" said von der Leyen, emphasising the need for a rapid and coordinated reaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ReArm Europe: 5 pillars for Defence and Security<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The plan ReArm Europe<\/strong> is based on five fundamental pillars:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Increased defence spending<\/strong> with the possibility for Member States to exceed the deficit ceiling.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. EUR 150 billion of European loans<\/strong> earmarked for military investments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Greater budgetary flexibility<\/strong> to enable states to allocate Cohesion Policy funds to defence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Involvement of private capital<\/strong> to accelerate the development of the European arms industry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Mobilisation of the European Investment Bank<\/strong> to support EU rearmament.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The Countdown to 2027: War in Sight?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    According to Russian analysts, the risk of a conflict between Russia and Europe<\/strong> could materialise in the Black Sea in 2027<\/strong>. Putin continues his offensive, while the US will reduce the military presence in Europe by 20,000 soldiers<\/strong>. The arms race has already begun: by 2027, the EU will have to be ready for a full-scale war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
