Welcomed by the <strong>Colonel Francesco Ferrara<\/strong>, <strong>Commander Regional Command West (RC-W)<\/strong>General Ciotti saluted the War Flag of the <a href=\"https:\/\/brigatafolgore.net\/en\/the-bersaglieri-from-king-carlo-alberto-to-the-present-day-2\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1256\">1st Regiment Bersaglieri <\/a>and signed the Roll of Honour. For the General, it was a 'family' visit, given his membership of the glorious specialty of the Bersaglieri (among the various command assignments performed in Italy and abroad, he was also <strong>Commander 8th Regiment Bersaglieri<\/strong> e <strong>Commander Bersaglieri 'Garibaldi' Brigade<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During his visit, General Ciotti attended the NATO-KFOR 'Golden Sabre' exercise, led by Regional Command West. This exercise saw the participation of the three responders responsible for security and freedom of movement in Kosovo: the <strong>Kosovo Police (first responder)<\/strong>, l'<strong>European Union Rule of Law Mission (EULEX, second responder)<\/strong> and the <strong>Kosovo Force (KFOR, third responder)<\/strong>. Also on the ground were units with anti-riot equipment, including<strong>Carabinieri Force in the Multinational Specialised Unit (MSU)<\/strong>which operated under the coordination of the Italian-led Regional Command West with the manoeuvre units of Eulex and the KP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the exercise, General Ciotti thanked the Italian military for their commitment, emphasising the importance of the activities carried out by the KFOR mission in support of local communities. The visit continued with a visit to the <strong>bridge built in Decane in 2015<\/strong> from <strong>6th Pioneer Engineer Regiment <\/strong>and ended at the Monastery of the same municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Italian KFOR contingent, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999, contributes to the maintenance of a safe environment and freedom of movement for all communities in Kosovo, while also promoting charitable activities under the direction of the Inter-Forces Summit Operations Command.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the past few days, Major General Domenico Ciotti, Head of the Operational Support Unit of the Interforce High Command (COVI), visited the Italian contingent in Kosovo at Camp \"Villaggio Italia\".
