The Ceuta Tactical Group and the Tercio 'Gran Capit\u00e1n' 1\u00ba de la Legi\u00f3n<\/strong> are the protagonists of an extensive security operation conducted under the supervision of the Spanish Defence General Staff (EMAD). As part of theOperation Strengthened Presence<\/strong>launched in March 2025, the Land Army intensified its deployment in the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla<\/strong>two strategic enclaves crucial to national security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This operation, coordinated by the Terrestrial Operational Command (MOT)<\/strong> and planned by EMAD, has as its main objectives the strengthening of the territorial defence<\/strong>the protection of national sovereignty<\/strong> and the maintenance of stability in the region<\/strong>. The message to both the Spanish population and their Moroccan neighbours is clear: Spain resolutely defends its territorial integrity<\/strong>through a highly trained, visible and responsive military presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ceuta Tactical Group: surveillance and immediate response<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Grupo T\u00e1ctico de Ceuta (GTCeuta)<\/strong> consists of units of the Comandancia General de Ceuta (COMGECEU)<\/strong>including the Grupo de Regulares n\u00ba 54<\/strong>, the Tercio 'Duque de Alba' 2\u00ba de La Legi\u00f3n<\/strong> and the Regimiento de Caballer\u00eda 'Montesa' n\u00ba 3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These units form a multi-purpose combat group in rotation, capable of carrying out patrolling missions, border perimeter control and immediate tactical response in the event of a threat. Daily activities include ground reconnaissance, surveillance of critical infrastructures (such as ports, communication centres, strategic access and logistical areas) and control of sensitive points outside the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L'EMAD (Spanish Defence General Staff) <\/strong>released images showing a large deployment of VAMTAC armoured vehicles<\/strong> (Veh\u00edculo de Alta Movilidad T\u00e1ctico), manufactured in Spain. These all-terrain vehicles are essential for troop transport, mobile patrols and rapid tactical operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
