The tenth Annual International Airborne Commanders Conference (AIACC) was recently held at the prestigious Citadelle de Québec in Canada, an event of international importance attended by military delegations from thirteen countries. Among the participants, the presence of the 'Folgore' Parachute Brigade representing Italy stood out, confirming the strategic importance and operational excellence of the Italian Armed Forces on the international scene.
What is the AIACC?
The AIACC is a major annual meeting that brings together Airborne Commanders from the major NATO countries, Alliance partners and the European Union, creating the so-called Airborne Community, which aims to strengthen multinational interoperability and integration standards. During the conference, knowledge and procedures are shared regarding personnel airdrops, airborne supply, acquisition of new equipment and development of specific operational procedures for Airborne Operations.
Thirteen countries at the debate
The 10th AIACC was attended by delegations from Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Spain and the United States. The discussions placed particular emphasis on the Operational Readiness of paratroop units in modern crisis contexts, emphasising the vital importance of Airborne units as high readiness units.
In an era marked by increasing uncertainty and unpredictability in international scenarios, the AIACC emphasises the urgent need for constant information sharing and joint exercises between Allied countries. The aim is to ensure forces capable of reacting rapidly with operational effectiveness, versatility and full spectrum capability, following the principles of maximum integration at inter-force and multinational levels.
At a time of increasing global challenges, the AIACC has highlighted the need for close cooperation between allied countries to ensure effective information sharing and joint exercises. These activities are essential to maintain a high level of operational readiness and to ensure a coordinated and timely response to international crisis situations.
The Folgore in the front line
The Folgore Parachute Brigade, with its historical past and its proven experience in airborne operations, brought its views and expertise to the conference table, contributing to the debate on international cooperation and the development of shared tactics and strategies, and underlining Italy's commitment to contributing to collective security.
The 10th AIACC was therefore a success, marking a significant step towards greater integration and interoperability of parachute forces at international level.
