Yesterday (15 May), at the 'Duca' barracks in Verona, a ceremony was held to award the patents to the new Italian Army Rangers. The event was attended by the Undersecretary of State for Defence, Senator Isabella Rautiand the Brigadier General Andrea Vicari, Commander of the Army Special Forces (COMFOSE).
The new Special Forces operators completed an intensive training programme of almost two years. During the ceremony, there was an operational demonstration with NH90 helicopters, also celebrating three important anniversaries of the 4th Regiment Alpini Parachutists.
The family members present were able to witness a spectacular demonstration: the operators descended from an NH90 helicopter using the fast rope technique and then deployed on the forecourt of the 'Duca' barracks. In this impressive setting, they received the dagger engraved with their licence number from the highest authority present.
The Colonel Igor Panebianco, Commander 4th Regiment Alpini ParachutistsIn his speech, he recalled three important anniversaries: the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Regiment, the 25th anniversary of the Ranger Course and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Alpini Parachute Company.
In his speech, Undersecretary Rauti emphasised the importance and elite status of the 4th Alpini Paratroopers, highlighting their operational capabilities in arctic and mountainous environments. General Vicari, on the other hand, stressed the importance of the continuous training of new Special Operators in an era characterised by rapid technological developments in weapon systems and combat techniques.
