The "MEDUSA 2024" exercise, organised by the Fires Targeting and Info Operations Centre (CFTIO) of the Bracciano Artillery Command, has recently ended. This activity involved various Italian Army departments in simulation exercises, with the aim of improving the cooperation and interoperability of command and control systems for Artillery.
Participants included the 5th Land Artillery Regiment (Lanciarazzi) 'SUPERGA', the 3rd Land Artillery Regiment, the 185th Parachute Artillery Regiment 'FOLGOREa platoon from the Engineer Command, the 11th Transmission Regiment 'Leonessa', some AVES pilots, personnel from the Army Non-Commissioned Officers' School, the Infantry School, as well as staff from the three Virtual Training Centres: 132nd Tank Regiment 'Ariete'5th Regiment 'Rigel' and 185th Parachute Reconnaissance and Target Acquisition Regiment 'Folgore.
The exercise focused on the use of advanced simulation systems to test the ability of different units and systems to interact, including the participation of a Battery Command Post of the British 19th Royal Artillery Regiment. The presence of the international component was aimed at examining the interoperability of communication systems through the simulation of artillery actions coordinated in procedures and modes of intervention.
With the conclusion of the exercise, the Italian Army's continuous effort to keep its operational capabilities up-to-date and to pursue interoperability with allied countries emerges, contributing to the armed forces' continuous improvement path, in line with contemporary security needs and the evolving international context.
