In Montelibretti (RM), the Multifunctional Army Experimentation Centre (CEPOLISPE) today represents a pillar of research and innovation for the armed force. The recent visit of Army Chief of Staff Parachutist General Carmine Masiello highlighted the crucial importance of this institution in the national defence landscape.
The focus of the meeting was the presentation of the most advanced projects and frontier technologies used for military experimentation, with the aim of reaffirming and consolidating CEPOLISPE's role as a centre of technical and engineering excellence. Colonel Pierpaolo Dotoli, the Centre's Director, led the Italian Army Commander through a detailed tour of the activities and future development plans, highlighting how innovation and advanced training are the levers to maintain and strengthen the Army's drive in the sector.
Gen. C.A. Masiello had the opportunity to attend a simulation and modelling demonstration at the ITB (Integrated Test Bed) site, a tangible example of the movement towards virtual testing. The visit continued with an exploration in the field of electromagnetism, at a semi-anechoic chamber, where state-of-the-art experiments were demonstrated.
Concluding the visit, the Chief of Staff met the Centre's staff, together with the Lieutenant Engineers of the 200th 'Dovere' course, highlighting CEPOLISPE's strategic value not only as a centre of technical excellence but also as a fundamental resource for national and international security. In this context, the focus on research and development, in collaboration with universities and industry, emerges as a distinctive element for the continuous updating and qualification of skills, strengthening the link between the military and civil worlds.
CEPOLISPE, a body dependent on the Army Logistics Command, is an advanced military testing centre, whose core business is technical and experimental testing aimed at the homologation of vehicles, materials, weapon systems, components and equipment of Defence interest. It is therefore confirmed as a laboratory where the future of defence is shaped through experimentation and innovation, underlining the essential role these activities play for the operational effectiveness and reliability of Italy's defence capabilities in an era of complex and evolving challenges.
