The 15th 'Charlie' amphibious qualification course for the staffs of the 'Pozzuolo del Friuli' Brigade units was recently concluded at the historic 'Serenissima' Lagunari Regiment. Focusing on theoretical and practical activities, it aimed to provide personnel with the basic skills for planning and conducting amphibious and riverine operations.
During the three-week training period, the participants went through a series of lectures and practical tests, such as an in-depth study of operations in an amphibious environment, knowledge of the main amphibious and naval means, pool exercises, a ballasted march, and water skills tests, such as capsizing with an inflatable boat in a lagoon and crossing waterways under operational conditions.
A key element of the programme was the lecture on amphibious operations, delivered by Frigate Captain Ferruccio Ferreli from theVenice Institute of Maritime Military Studieswhich covered various aspects of maritime operations and the Navy's capabilities in support of these missions. This conference was also attended by the Key Elements of the staffs of the 'Pozzuolo' Brigade's departments, belonging to the CNPM (National Capability for Projection from the Sea) capability basket, highlighting the importance of integration and cooperation between the different components of the armed forces.
At the end of the course, Colonel Ivan Falasca, Commander of the Lagunari Regiment Serenissima, handed the certificates of participation to the participants, thus acknowledging the completion of their training, marking the entry of new qualified amphibians ready to contribute to the operational capabilities of the 'Pozzuolo del Friuli' Brigade, today under the command of Parachute Brigadier General Nicola Mandolesi, an officer of extraordinary talents who in the past commanded the 3rd Battalion Grizzano (part of the 183rd Par. Rgt. Nembo)then, as Colonel, the legendary 187th Parachute Regiment 'Folgore'.
